CJ Randall, entered a team of three MG Midget M Types for the 1930 Double-Twelve Race at Brooklands and won the team prize.

The Randall / Montgomery car, No. 76, coming off the Members Banking.

The cars were prepared by the MG works at Abingdon. Besides being specially tuned and having new valve timing, they were fitted with a regulation Brooklands exhaust system, folding windscreen, bonnet strap and cutaway doors. The headlamp brackets were reversed to reduce the frontal area.

 

Their success in the race was one of the M Types greatest triumphs and gave a tremendous boost to the car's popularity.
